A Dublin hurler is playing a 2016 club relegation decider today less than 24-hours after playing Cork

Setanta Balymun are playing St Oliver Plunketts in the Dublin Senior hurling relegation decider today at Parnell Park.

The losers will be relegated to the Senior B ranks next year so there is plenty on stake despite the unfortunate timing of the relegation final.

The madness of this fixture is compounded by the fact that one of Setanta’s star men Fionntáin Mac Gibb had a key role to play in Dublin’s  victory over Cork last night  playing at corner forward and scoring a point.

Now less than 24 hours later the player has to tog out for his club team in a make or break game. Is this further proof the club fixtures need to be sorted out?
